Tennis News: - Cincinnati Open - Big stars like Serena Williams, Iga Swiatek will partcipate

Cincinnati is again set to host one of the biggest tennis tournaments of the year: the Western and Southern Open 2022, between August 13-21. The list containing the players' names has been released and is full of great tennis stars like Serena Williams, Iga Swiatek

The 22 times major champion and two times winner of the Western and Southern Open, Serena Williams, is one of the headliners. She made a comeback in this year's Wimbledon after a long halt and lost in the first round. The fans expect Williams to bring her form back in this tournament and show how a star returns in the game.

Iga Swiatek, holding the first position in the world ATP ranking, is also one of the headliners, along with other big names in international tennis like Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff, and Emma Raducanu. This year's Wimbledon singles champion, Elena Rybakina, is also returning to the Western and Southern Open and must be looking forward to winning this tournament as well. Emma Raducanu, the young player who has just now won the ESPY award for best tennis athlete of the year, will also be there.

As far as the list of men's tennis players is concerned, all big names are returning for the tournament. World's no. 1, Daniil Medvedev, will be one of the headliners. Rafael Nadal, who has also won the ESPY award for best tennis athlete of the year, along with Raducanu, is also going to compete in the tournament. Furthermore, Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov and Stefanos Tsitsipas, being within the top 5 players in the world, are also competing in the Western and Southern Open.

Novak Djokovic, who recently won the Wimbledon men's singles title against Nick Kyrgios, has also made the list of the players competing in the tournament. While his name is there and he wishes to be a part of the tournament, his unwillingness to get vaccinated for COVID-19 may result in his disqualification. The US requires players entering the country to be vaccinated, and his adamant decision against vaccination has already cost him disqualification from one of the Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open. His presence in the US this year is also unlikely. If he doesn't get vaccinated, he might not be able to compete in the upcoming Western and Southern Open either.
