The Spaniard was targetting another trophy this year, but he couldn't defeat Musetti. Despite losing to his opponent, who has also climbed a few spots, Alcaraz moved up on the rankings and settled at number five, hitting a new career high. A victory at Hamburg would have raised him further to number four. Meanwhile, Musetti is the player who made a long jump by traversing 31 spots to number 31.

The top spot is still occupied by Daniil Medvedev, followed by second-ranked Alexander Zverev and Rafael Nadal in the third spot. Novak Djokovic has not slid out of the top 10 and still rests at the seventh spot. Several players have recorded new career highs this week. They include Carlos Alcaraz at five.

WTA rankings without significant changes this week

Iga Swiatek still reigns at the summit of WTA tennis as the women's listing underwent a single change in the top 10 of the new rankings, with Garbine Muguruza overtaking Danielle Collins. WTA tennis has not been making noise despite ongoing tournaments. Most top players are not present as they prepare for the hard court swing or just resting. Iga Swiatek has managed to retain her spot due to a fantastic season. Garbine Muguruza climbed to number eight, jumping over Danielle Collins, who now occupies the ninth position.

Irina Begu had a productive week, earning herself a 13-spot jump to number 33. Interestingly, she is not the biggest mover of the week as Bernarda Pera took a 27-spot leap to number 54. She secured her second trophy this year by beating Kontaveit in the Hamburg final, and her current rank is her all-time career high.
