Tennis News: Alexander Zverev provides injury update, Nick Kyrgios to star on Netflix
Alexander Zverev recently suffered a grave ankle injury while on the court. While competing against Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros, he twisted his ankle and fell on the court due to severe pain
He was taken away after the injury, and soon he declared that he was no longer in shape to continue the game. Later it was found that he had severely injured the ligaments of his ankle, and he underwent surgery for the treatment.
In a recent video posted on social media, Alexander Zverev is seen walking without crutches; however, he isn't sure yet if he'll be able to play at the US Open this year. Though not certain, Alexander Zverev is incredibly hopeful of playing the last Grand Slam of the year. He also wishes to compete in the Davis Cup scheduled to take place in September this year.
"I still haven't given up on the US Open, and of course I want to be part of the Davis Cup for myself," said Zverev. "That's a goal because my brother and I are also involved with the organization that helped bring the Davis Cup to Hamburg," he added.
Meanwhile, Netflix has decided to make a documentary about Nick Kyrgios' run in Wimbledon. This Wimbledon was typically eventful owing to many controversies surrounding Kyrgios on and off the court. Despite all the controversial events, Nick Kyrgios made it to the finals. Though he failed to beat the legend Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon singles final, his on-court energy would make a good documentary about this year's Wimbledon.
Not only Nick Kyrgios, but his girlfriend, Costeen Hatzi, will also star in the documentary. Reportedly, the Australian tennis star had signed the contract before the tournament, and his incredible performance in Wimbledon has given Netflix all the more reason to continue with the idea. His matches with many current tennis stars like Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paul Jubb and his victory are definitely worth a watch given how dramatic and skilful the games were.
