She carried on with her winning ways to break the 13-match winning streak of Ludmilla Samsonova in the fourth round after almost two hours of play.
The 29-year-old Australian put forth a brilliant display of mental fortitude and self-confidence to save seven set points at 4-5 in the first set and then eight more in the thrilling tiebreak to secure her victory.
Ajla Tomljanović served one ace, won 66% of the points on the first serve and broke the serve of Ludmilla Samsonova four times from five opportunities.
After the victory, Ajla Tomljanović said, "Just feels really good to back up a win that I think got a lot of attention. I just felt a little bit drained. After that slow start, I just didn't want to go out like that. Picked me up, fought back really hard, played some quality tennis after that."
