Football Players in the last year of their contracts
Big names in European clubs are due for renewal of contracts. They have the choice to either remain and renegotiate the contract or leave for new clubs.
Lionel Messi
The Argentinian icon made a stunning move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021. However, there were already speculations of him moving to another club as his salary at the Paris based outfit was mere chump change compared to what the Spanish giants, Barcelona, paid him.
Following Messi's arrival, reports suggest that he would earn €30 million (£25 million/$33 million) in his debut season with new employers in France and €40 million (£33 million/$44 million) in the seasons to come.
His arrival to Paris Saint-Germain was confirmed on August 10, 2021, as Barcelona failed to retain him after being forced by financial difficulties.
Paris Saint-Germain signed a two-year contract, which implies that his deal will expire in 2023. However, an option of a 12-month extension could see him play for the side until 2024.
Meanwhile, Messi has been rumoured about signing back with Barcelona, who have made it public that they would love to sign back the most outstanding player who ever played for their side.
Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah is one of the greatest players in the world has his hands full with plenty of offers coming from European clubs.
In January, he played for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations, played almost all of Liverpool's matches this season, and led Egypt to World Cup qualification.
However, due to very aggressive contract negotiations with his side, Liverpool, the Egyptian's form has taken a hit.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that he and Liverpool want to reach a consensus and get a deal done. But there have been many difficulties along the way.
According to reports, Mohamed Salah has even rejected Liverpool's lucrative offer to pay him £400,000 per week. This came as quite a shock as fans believed that this was what Salah wanted initially.
If Salah and Liverpool cannot reach a consensus, the club might be forced to let him go this summer. Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Juventus, and Real Madrid are some European clubs interested in signing Salah if he goes into free agentship after this summer.
Paulo Dybala
After months of negotiations, Paulo Dybala has decided to terminate his contract with Juventus. The Argentine is expected to leave Juventus this summer.
Final talks between the parties have ended, with the contract expiring at the end of June. This leaves the door open to several potential suitors.
Unfortunately, Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo could not form a true partnership during Ronaldo's time at the club. And since Ronaldo's departure, Dybala is also unable to take control of the club's attack.
In the last months of his contract, the forward was linked to several European clubs. Tottenham, a Premier League team, was one of the most frequently mentioned destinations. The Argentinian has been linked to Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool in the past few months.
Kylian Mbappe
This summer marks the end of Kylian Mbappe's contract with the club, who requested to leave last summer. A move to Real Madrid has long been talked about.
The French national will be out of contract in June and is expected to transfer freely to Real Madrid. Paris Saint-Germain wanted him to stay in Paris and offered him an £800,000-a-week deal. However, to no avail as of now.
Real Madrid and Mbappe have never made any secret of their love for each other, and the Spanish giants are confident that they will finally get their man. Actual attempted to sign Mbappe last season but were met by stubborn resistance from Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe, who joined the club on loan from Monaco in 2017, is one of Europe's best forwards.
Paul Pogba
Paul Pogba will be leaving Manchester United this summer as a free agent after his contract expires. According to reports, the 29-year-old has yet to be offered a contract and has not opened negotiations with the club.
European giants Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid are planning to offer a contract to the World Cup winner once this season ends. Paul Pogba has expressed his desire to play at Real Madrid, so it's reasonable to assume they will be the favourites to sign him.
