    Emami East Bengal ended their Durand Cup campaign with a 4-3 victory against Mumbai City FC at Kishore Bharati Stadium in Kolkata

    Within the regulation time, Sumeet Passi in the 17th and 34th minutes and Cleiton Silva in the 22nd and 81st minutes were the goalscorers for Emami East Bengal. 

    In contrast, Greg Stewart scored for Mumbai City FC in the 27th minute and Lallianzuala Chhangte in the 36th and 43rd minutes.

    Mumbai City FC had already booked a spot in the quarterfinals of the Durand Cup after Emami East Bengal lost 1-0 to ATK Mohun Bagan in the Kolkata derby on August 28.

    Emami East Bengal started the match aggressively and immediately began building pressure on the cracks in the Mumbai City FC defence. Thongkhosiem Haokip took control of the ball in the midfield and sent a pass to Cleiton Silva, but Mumbai City goalkeeper Mohammed Nawaz did not falter.

    One minute later, Jerry Lalrinzuala lifted a cross toward Sumit Passi in the Mumbai City FC box. The 27-year-old Indian forward slotted the ball into the net with a diving header to open the scoring for Emami East Bengal.

    Cleiton Silva launched another dangerous attack and broke past the defensive line of Mumbai City FC to double the lead for Emami East Bengal from a free kick.

    Mumbai City FC went on a counter-attack, and Greg Stewart narrowed the deficit to 2-1 in the 27th minute with an excellent sidekick after receiving a pass from Bipin.

    Cleiton Silva made a fantastic run on the left flank and lifted the ball to Sumit Passi, who fired it past Mumbai City goalkeeper Mohammed Nawaz to make it 3-1.

    Lallianzuala Chhangte added two goals for Mumbai City FC within seven minutes. The first half ended with both sides tied 3-3.

    Both sides struggled to score in the second half after the goal-filled first. Emami East Bengal finally got a breakthrough in the 81st minute when Cleiton Silva intercepted the ball in the midfield and passed it to Amarjit Kiyam, who returned it to Cleiton Silva with a cross. 

    The 35-year-old Brazillian made no mistake and converted to seal the victory for Emami East Bengal.

    Emami East Bengal finished at the third spot on the Group B chart with five points from four matches, while Mumbai City FC finished at the top with seven points from four games.
