Chelsea, Inter Milan and PSG join race to appoint current AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho

Some of Europe's biggest clubs are lining up to hire two-time Champions League winner Jose Mourinho, according to reports.

    Jose Mourinho. Jose Mourinho.

The AS Roma boss will be out of contract in the summer of 2024 and a number of clubs, including Chelsea, Inter Milan and Paris Saint Germain, are keeping a watchful eye on the Portuguese manager.

Chelsea, for instance, are in the midst of their worst run of form in years having won just one of their last 10 games across all competitions. Current boss Graham Potter is second in the Premier League sack race, meaning it's possible the Blues could be on the lookout for a new manager in the near future should their poor form continue.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues have already enquired about Mourinho's availability at the end of the season.

The former Chelsea chief has enjoyed two previous spells at Stamford Bridge where he won three Premier League titles, three League Cups and one FA Cup. The 60-year-old recently worked in the Premier League as manager of Tottenham before being sacked in April 2021 and opting for a summer move to the Italian capital. Since arriving in Rome, Mourinho has won 52% of his 87 games in charge and also led the team to their first European trophy - the 2022 Europa Conference League crown. Roma are enjoying a strong season under Mourinho and are currently on course for a top four finish. The Italian side are third in Serie A and have lost just one of their last 10 league outings. However, Chelsea are not the only club considering a move for the Portuguese football mastermind.

Italian outlet La Repubblica revealed Inter Milan are not satisfied with current boss Simone Inzaghi and could make a move for Mourinho.

The manager won one of his two Champions League titles with the Nerazzurri back in 2010. Mourinho also claimed two Serie A titles and two domestic trophies before stepping away.

The third club considering his services are under-performing PSG. Italian newspaper Leggo reported the French giants are far from pleased with the team's current form and are on the verge of sacking Christophe Galtier.

The Parisians have lost three of their last four games - including a 1-0 defeat in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash with Bayern Munich. PSG are still top of Ligue 1, though recent defeats to Rennes, Monaco and a draw with Reims, have seen their advantage diminish.
