West Indies VS India 4th T20I: Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh dominated West Indies batters to give India a 3-1 lead
A comfortable 59-run win for team India to seal the series win by 3-1. The Indian batters were stunning with their willow, but bowlers outshined in defending the target clinically
Putting to bat first, Indian opener Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav put off a hurried start, but both lost their wickets within powerplay at a score of 61. However, India kept playing with freedom without worrying about losing wickets.
Deepak Hooda and Rishabh Pant played eye-catching shots to build a 47-run stand. While Rishabh Pant got dismissed at 44, Sanju Samson pulled 30 off 23, and Axar Patel played an 8-ball 20 cameo stunningly to take India's total to 191.
West Indies bowlers gave mixed performances with the ball. Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein and Dominic Drakes were good. In contrast, Obed McCoy was taken by the batter to return with 2/66 in 4 overs, making it the worst-ever bowling figure for a West Indian bowler in T20Is.
Chasing the mammoth target, West Indies lost their openers early in 3.1 overs for 22 runs. The team looked to gain momentum with skipper Nicholas Pooran smashing Axar Patel for three sixes and a four in an over. Nicholas Pooran lost his wicket in a run-out, scoring 8-ball 24 runs. It symbolizes the lack of application and strategy by WI batters.
The rest of the West Indies team collapsed as Indian bowlers shackled the Caribbeans for 132. Nobody was able to build a strong partnership. Indian seamers Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh were too hot to handle the batters.
While Avesh Khan returned with figures of 4-0-17-2 to become Player of the Match, Arshdeep Singh returned with three wickets from middle and death overs, giving India a new dimension with his left-arm angle and reversing yorkers. Apart from them, Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi, too, returned with two wickets apiece.
Rohit Sharma said, "I think it was pleasing how we played the game. We played good cricket to get the win today. The batters were really smart and the bowlers bowled in pairs to get wickets."
India will now clash with West Indies in a dead rubber match for the 5th T20I on 7th August 2022 at Lauderhill.
