Batting first, Lancashire posted 183 at a loss of 7 wickets for Yorkshire. Opener Phil Salt scored 59 off 41 and lost his wicket in a run-out. On the other hand, Tim David, after leaving his mark with bat in IPL 2022, went on to score 35 off 18 being the second-highest run-scorer for the team in the match. The rest of the batters failed to have an impactful time with the bat as Haris Rauf and Adil Rashid shone with the ball.

Yorkshire had a very stumbling chase start, losing both the openers David Malan and Adam Lyth in the first four overs. It became worse as Joe Root for a combined total of 29 runs. The momentum shifted with the hosts owing to the early blows. However, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Harry Brook stitched a 114-run partnership in just 75 balls. Their on-field pairing was crucial as they eyed a memorable win. Tom scored 67 runs before getting out, whereas Harry Brook scored 72 off 48, looking to almost seal the win when the team just needed one run in the final ball to win. However, Richard Gleeson trapped the batter in a leg before wicket on the last ball, ending the match in a tie. This was the third tie between the two slides in 33 short-format games.

Harry Brooks has been performing consistently for Yorkshire in first-class and T20s. He has scored ten fifty-plus scores in 11 innings across all the formats this season. Before this performance against Lancashire, the young fellow remained unbeaten at 60 against WORCS to seal the win for his team.

Looking at his performance, Michael Atherton, former England captain, said, "I'd have to pick him ahead of Bairstow at No 5, just because of the form he is in. His first-class form has been exceptional. When you pick a young player is so important, and he will never be in better form than this, never be more confident than this."
