Overseas Player of the week: David Warner

The Player has accumulated 427 runs in 10 matches at an average strike rate of 61 and 152.5. This week, he had a rare collapse against Chennai Super Kings, where he could manage only 19 runs off 12 balls. 

However, in the other two matches, David Warner performed exceptionally well. In the fixtures against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals this week, the opener remained not out and helped the team seal the win. He scored 92 off 58 against his former franchise SRH, where he clobbered three maximums and 12 fours at a commendable strike rate of 158.62. He was awarded Player of the Match for this inning. 

On winning the Player of the Match, David Warner said, "I think when you rock up here and look at that wicket, it's a really nice wicket. It doesn't matter if you bat first or second; you know it's going to be nice and true. I had some success here and knew if I played my strokes, didn't think about hitting gaps but just hit the ball and watched the ball, it was going to come off and fortunately today it did. I don't care if I get run out. If we get 200+... I thought 190 was a par score but anything over 200. I said to him if he's there at the end, we can get 210-220. I'll leave [the hundreds] to Jos [Buttler]."

And in the chase game against Rajasthan Royals bowling attack, he anchored the innings well with Mitchell Marsh, who played attacking throughout. David Warner scored 52 off 41, consisting of five sixes and one boundary.

He has been in total control and taking calculated risks in every Match. He has climbed to the third spot in the race of Orange cap, which Jos Buttler leads by a considerable margin.
