Most expensive over this season
With every passing match, the fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League is moving towards its climax, raising our excitement levels
We have seen several outstanding performances in the season till now, leaving us absolutely stunned. However, along with some brilliant performances, we also saw some players disappointing everyone with their poor performances. Discussing the bowling display in the league, some bowlers ruled this league, whereas some failed to create an impact with their bowling. This season some bowlers conceded many runs in their over. Let us have a look at these bowlers who conceded the maximum runs in a single over in this year's edition of IPL.
Daniel Sams smashed for 35 runs by Pat Cummins.
In match 14th of the season, Pat Cummins played probably the innings of his life. But at the expense of his performance, his countryman Daniel Sams' name got registered in the unwanted record book. Cummins punished Sams by hitting all around the park as he started the over by smashing him straight down the ground, followed by a four at the square. After that, Cummins didn't stop at anything and hit back-to-back sixes. Cummins was caught at the long-off on the fifth ball, but unfortunately, it was a no-ball, and the batter stole two runs. Even that no-ball helped Cummins add two runs and get back on strike for the free hit. The batter capitalised on the free-hit to smash hit for a boundary. Following this, the last delivery of the over went for a six to seal the tie as Sams conceded 35 runs in the over.
Rahul Chahar smashed for 28 runs by 'Baby ABD'!
South African youngster Dewald Brevis, batting with fellow teenager Tilak Varma, took the attack to Chahar, helping swing the momentum in MI's favour. The 19-year-old, popularly addressed as 'Baby AB' for the similarity to AB de Villiers' batting style, hit four successive sixes in Chahar's over. The leg-spinner tried changing his lines and lengths, but the ball was flying into the stands at the MCA Stadium. With four sixes and a boundary in the over, it was Chahar's most expensive in the IPL. However, he came back in his next over, conceding just four runs to in-form India star Suryakumar Yadav. However, Chahar's expensive over turned out to be remarkable as no batsmen ever smashed this many runs to the leggie!
Mustafizur Rahman's expensive over to inform DK
In the 27th match of this season, RCB defeated DC to seal a 16-run win over Pant's team. What led RCB to a vast total was Dinesh Karthik's 28 run over against Mustafizur. The game was under the control of the Delhi Capitals until the 18th over. The 18th over was bowled by Mustafizur Rahman, who until then had conceded only 20 runs in his three overs. Dinesh Karthik, who was on strike, capitalised on the over to its full extent as he went on to attack Rahman. The first ball of the over went for a four, with Karthik playing an unorthodox shot. The second one was a well-executed reverse shot that went over the third man for another boundary. The third ball was smashed wide of the extra cover region for the third consecutive boundary, while the fourth went for a massive six. The fifth ball Mustafizur bowled was in the slot, which was easy for Karthik to strike into the stands for another maximum. The final ball of the over went as a low full toss which was again muscled for a boundary. Thus, ending the bowlers' over with 28 runs.
Liam Livingstone thrashed Shami for 28 runs!
In match 48 of IPL, the Punjab Kings sealed a brilliant eight wickets win over the table topper Gujarat Titans. However, Mohammed Shami's 28-run over caught everyone's eyes. PBKS batter Liam Livingstone smashed 28 runs to Mohammed Shami, which left every spectator in awe. The first ball was a length ball that was angled in, and Livingstone cleared his front leg and swung through the line to send the ball sailing over a deep square leg. The commentators, the players, and even the bowler were surprised by how far the ball had travelled. The shot went for the biggest six of this tournament, measuring 117 metres. Even Shami smirked as he walked back to his bowling mark, and Punjab captain Mayank Agarwal was left stunned. Livingstone was not done yet. He smashed the next two balls for successive sixes and then finished the game on the innings' final ball to give Punjab a considerable win. This was perhaps the most expensive over by the Indian pacer in his IPL career.
