Jhulan Goswami is a GOAT in Women's cricket as she bags her 250th ODI wicket
Jhulan Goswami now is the first-ever Women cricketer to take 250 wickets in One Day Internationals, creating history at the Women's World Cup 2022 against England on March 16.
After a successful LBW review, England Opener Tammy Beaumont became her 250th Wicket for the pacer.
Leading by a huge margin
Jhulan Goswami is way ahead in the ODI format with a gap of 70 wickets. In the ODI wicket tally, former Australian pacer Cathryn Fitzpatrick and current vice-captain of West Indies Anisa Mohammed tied at second and third spot respectively with 180 wickets. South Africa's Shabnim Ismail and England's Katherine Brunt are next, with 168 and 164 dismissals to their name, respectively.
Most Wickets in Women's World Cup
Jhulan Goswami also became the leading wicket-taker in the Women's world cup. She became the first cricketer to take 41 wickets in Women's World Cups, surpassing Lyn Fullston's tally of 39 World Cup wickets in the last match against West Indies. Fans on Twitter too hailed the pacer for her commendable performance in the World Cup.
Australian captain Ellyse Perry said, "I think not just myself, but our entire team have a tremendous level of respect for Jhulan. You know, what she's done for the game, not just for the Indian team, the whole of women's cricket globally is just unbelievable. I certainly admire her longevity as well, and just how successful she's been over such a long period of time. She's such a talisman for the Indian team. She's an absolute bedrock of that new ball. And it's been really, really tricky to get away,"
The 39-year-old pacer made her ODI debut for India in 2002 against England at Chennai, and since then, she has taken a total of 350 international wickets across all the formats. She played her first world cup in 2005 against Sri Lanka in Pretoria, and the current world cup is her fourth.
Another match, another feat
Team India will next square off against table-toppers Australia on 19 March in the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup. This will be the 200th ODI match for veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami. A win against Meg Lanning's side will ease India's path for the semi-finals.
