IPL 2022: Players with the most impressive half-centuries so far
This year's Indian Premier League has been different from the concluded fourteen editions
Around 74 matches, ten teams, new captains and shuffled teams due to mega-auctions. This has been all different. If you are an avid cricket fan and following this season of IPL, you must have seen how cricketers are furiously scoring huge totals against one another to take their teams close to winning this lucrative event.
While we know that Jos Buttler has ruled the season with his batting and ruthless run scoring, many other players have attempted to score well. As hundreds are a rare feat in shorter formats, a lot of thrilling fifties have been witnessed so far. So, let's keep scrolling down further to know everything about the five players with the most fifties in this season of IPL 2022.
David Warner
While opening for Delhi Capital, the left-handed batters have slammed five half-centuries in this tournament. This is by far the most fifties hit by any player in this season. The Australian player has scored 432 runs in 12 matches at an amazing strike rate of 150.52. He got dismissed for a single-digit score thrice in this edition. His highest total of unbeaten 92 from 58 balls came against his former franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad. Five fifties led him to a stunning average of 48 as an opener in this IPL. Apart from Sunrisers Hyderabad, his remaining fifties came against Royal Challengers Bangalore (66 off 38), Punjab Kings (60 off 30), and Rajasthan Royals (52 off 41). The batter had a great season and would have added a few more runs if they qualified for the playoffs.
Hardik Pandya
IPL 2022 has been an episode of reincarnation for the Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya. Leading the team with utmost grace, the skipper has fixed a spot in the finals for his team. Before IPL 2022, he only had eight fifties in 175 T20s played. But in this season alone, he has scored four half-centuries. The prime reason for this has been that he promoted himself up the order and anchored innings for his team, unlike being a finisher for the team. He has gathered 453 runs at a strike rate of 132.84 and is averaging at 45.30. This is the highest average for him in his IPL career. His four fifties came against Sunrisers Hyderabad (50 off 42), Rajasthan Royals (87 off 52), Kolkata Knight Riders (67 off 49) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (62 off 47).
His form forced selectors to consider him back, and thus has found a place in India's T20 squad for upcoming international fixtures.
Deepak Hooda
Called Hurricane by his fans and supporters alike, he carries the ability to create new changes in games that are seemingly hopeless or on the verge of loss. Deepak Hooda has lived up to his name by saving his team, Lucknow Super Giants, from certain defeat by making his four fifties in this season. His stunning fifties opposed Gujarat, Hyderabad, Delhi and Rajasthan.
Accumulating 451 runs at an average of 32.21 along with a strike rate of 136.66, Deepak Hooda has earned well-earned praises for his skills in making sure that he gives hard times to his opponents.
Liam Livingstone
Punjab Kings broke their banks for swashbuckling all-rounders. Liam Livingstone was one of the most expensive players in IPL 2022. The hard-hitting batter has proved his worth by scoring 437 runs in 14 matches with a phenomenal strike rate of 182.08 and an average of 36.42. He has scored four fifties in this season. He achieved his highest score of 70 off 42 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. His power-hitting capabilities come to light with an astonishing number of sixes and fours he hit. He has pulled 29 boundaries and 34 sixes so far.
Jos Buttler
It's been a season of two halves for Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler. The Englishman has hammered three centuries and four half-centuries in a season to gather 718 runs in 15 matches. He achieved his highest score of 116 in this edition against Delhi Capitals. He has been playing with a striking average of 51.29 and a strike rate of 148.35 this season. He achieved a bank of fifties against Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Gujarat in qualifier 1. He will further look to give his best in qualifier two ahead.
