Cricket News: IPL and its impact on T20 World cup 

Apart from the entertainment that fans derive, these leagues at various levels and formats have opened the doors of opportunity for players worldwide. Amongst all the leagues, the Indian Premier League has emerged to be the leading T20 league in the world, thus playing an essential role in flourishing the talents in the T20 format. 

IPL: The platform for the benchmark for global recognition

Most cricketing nations have developed their leagues, be it BBL in Australia, CPL in West Indies or Royal London Cup and Vitality Blast in England. The domestic leagues have allowed players to showcase their talent. However, amongst all of these, the Indian Premier League has established its benchmark with its grandeur. It has played an enormous role in changing the fortune of many youngsters. All other leagues look up to the cash-rich league, and the same fact can determine its vastness.

Speaking on the benchmark that IPL sets, ICC Chief Executive David Richardson, in one of his previous statements, said, "We are fortunate to have some outstanding T20 leagues, including the IPL, which set the gold standard for operations globally. Our primary objective is to ensure other leagues around the world put in place the same minimum criteria and operate within a consistent framework".

A platform to get selected in global tournaments!

IPL is watched by millions of fans and every significant cricketing entity. These cricketing bodies are scanning for potential players for their teams and league. From Big Bash League, Pakistan Super League, and Caribbean Premier League to English Domestic cricket, everyone keeps the IPL performance of players in mind. IPL performances of these players have landed them outstanding contracts in other leagues across the globe. 

While earlier this year, Cheteshwar Pujara and Washington Sundar got a call-up for the County Championship, Krunal Pandya got invited to play for the 50-over Royal London Cup. In the Royal London Cup, Washington Sundar will be seen playing for Lancashire Lightning, whereas Krunal Pandya will be seen with Warwickshire Club.  

Praising the 31-year-old all-rounder, Warwickshire director of cricket Paul Farbrace said, "Krunal will bring a wealth of international experience to a team that will be desperate to do well".

In response, Krunal Pandya said, "I hope I can play my part in a successful 50-over campaign with the club and I am looking forward to meeting my teammates."

In Washington Sundar's and Krunal Pandya's careers, IPL has played a massive role in nourishing them by bestowing them with domestic and international cricket opportunities. The recognition these all-rounders received from the league has played an essential role in their selection in county cricket! The increasing craze of IPL players in world cricket is making it bigger and bigger, taking it to higher levels. IPL has a considerable contribution to world cricket, and the selection of these players in global leagues sees a significant impact on IPL. 

Foreign players are getting traction in global leagues due to IPL

Apart from Indian cricketers, it has also served as the platform of recognition for many international players. One of the prime examples of it is the Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga. The country's national side never looked upon the player. However, after the player bagged a colossal contract for IPL 2022 from Royal Challengers Bangalore, the players got included in the main squad of Sri Lanka and have displayed unstoppable performance since then, be it in IPL or for the national team. 

Even Faf du Plessis nominated himself to participate in this year's edition of Big Bash League. Tim David and Daniel Sams got called up for T20 Vitality Blast soon after their impressive IPL stint ended this season. 

The Royal London Cup will take place from 2nd to 23rd August 2022, and many eyes will now be on the Indian cricketers with the hope of some furious cricket.
