County Championship Review: Stuart Broad upstaged and Rachin Ravindra, Ben Raine and Paul Coughlin tons set it big for Durham

Nottinghamshire vs Leicestershire: Despite opting to bowl first, Nottinghamshire bowlers struggled to make most of the well-grassed pitch as Foxes closed on 340/8 on Day 1. They added 104 more runs on Day 2 as Ben Mike scored 78 off 100 balls. Except for Lyndon James, who returned with a figure of 16-3-45-3, other bowlers struggled with an economy of above three and 4.00. 

In reply, Nottinghamshire batter Ben Duckett played a swashbuckling inning to score 145 off 153, whereas Joe Clarke missed out on a century as Callum Parkinson caught him at slip for 89 late in the day. Skipper Steven Mullaney added an unbeaten 37 as the visitors closed on 373-5 in reply to the Leicestershire total of 440 and a trail of 67 runs.

Durham vs Worcestershire: On Day 1 of the clash, we saw Rachin Ravindra producing a world-class debut for Durham as he scored his career-best unbeaten 178. Along with him, Jonathan Bushnell's unbeaten 61 on debut and 96 from Scott Borthwick positioned the hosts at 375/3 on the first day. In continuation, Ben Raine (103*) and Paul Coughlin (100*) fetched unbeaten tons for the team, rocketing the total to 642/7 and declaring the innings.  

Worcestershire, attempting to chase the mammoth total, lost Taylor Cornall early for a duck. After producing magic with the bat, Ben Raine struck two wickets to cement their grip against Worcestershire. He removed Jake Libby (28) and Azhar Ali (45), leaving visitors to trail by 502 after scoring 140-3 at stumps of Day 2. It's a great fight left for Worcestershire to be conquered the following day.

Sussex vs Glamorgan: Day 1 between the two teams commenced in favour of Glamorgan. And it continued to be on their side even on the second day. While the first day saw Oli Carter anchoring the team when lingering at 29/2 to end the day at an unbeaten 113, the batter continued his flawless inning to score 185, nearly fifty per cent of the team's total. While all other batters fell victim to Andrew Salter, who took a four-wicket haul, Henry Crocombe (36) and Jack Brooks (36) added quick runs to bring the total to 376. 

In response, though Sean Hunt struck Glamorgan's skipper David Lloyd early, Eddie Byrom and Colin Ingram scored 105 and 145, respectively, showing their vintage form. Their unbeaten centuries helped the team reach 258 at a loss of 1 wicket in the first innings, trailing Sussex by 118 runs. By the end of the day, Sussex had already bowled with eight bowlers, labouring in the sunshine, but managed to put brakes only in the last session as Archie Lenham bowled economically. 

Middlesex vs Derbyshire: Much similar to what the first day at Chesterfield bought, a day ruled by bowlers, continued in the same fashion on Day 2. While on a preceding day, Derbyshire's debutants, Toby Pettman and Mark Watt, combined to restrict Middlesex at 251; today, we saw Toby Roland-Jones take a five-wicket haul and two wickets each by Tim Murtagh and Ethan Bamber to limit Derbyshire to 229. This left Middlesex with a lead of 22 runs from the first inning.

The game at Chesterfield got intriguingly poised, with Mark Stoneman's unbeaten 60 steerings Middlesex to 95-3. This gave them a lead of 117 in their second innings against Derbyshire at the stumps of Day 2.
