Will Neymar Jr move back to FC Barcelona?
According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil forward Neymar Jr stint in France could end soon.
Poor performance in the UEFA Champions League, and the humiliating defeat by Real Madrid, could make Neymar Jr move on. Reports suggest he could even go back to FC Barcelona.
Paris Saint-Germain suffered a brutal loss to Real Madrid last week. They were leading by a 1-0 aggregate in the first leg of the Champions League.
However, Real Madrid CF came roaring back in the match after Kylian Mbappe’s 24-minute goal, which took PSG lead to 2-0.
Karim Benzema took the lead, as he scored a spectacular hat-trick against the PSG, which took the Real Madrid to the quarter-finals stage.
This exit did not sit well with the home fans, who left no stones unturned to taunt the club’s forwards in their Ligue-1 match against the bottom of the table, FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
The South American duo was at the center of the ill-treatment. PSG fans exempted the French forward Kylian Mbappe from the same treatment. Paris Saint-Germain F.C. scored 2 goals against Bordeaux, one by Kylian Mbappe and another one from Neymar Jr (who did not participate in victory celebrations).
However, this wasn’t enough to pacify PSG supporters. There are also reports of internal strife in the dressing room. Paris Saint-Germain F.C. are contemplating serious changes in squad as they are falling short of winning European titles. Neymar Jr who has been part of the club since 2017, could also become a victim of this and may exit through the transfer window in the next season.
There are many takers for the 2018 world cup winner and one of the most interesting ones of them might be his former home, FC Barcelona.
Can Barcelona re-sign Neymar Jr.?
As of now, many, including FC Barcelona, are pondering over acquiring the Brazilian forward in the summer transfer window. However, there are other takers for the football superstars are as well and Barcelona might have to face stiff competitions from other Premier League clubs to get their hands on Neymar Jr.
Premier League clubs who are at the forefront of this matter are Manchester City and Newcastle United.
Newcastle United are looking to go all-in this summer as the effect of COVID-19 has subsided, and it looks like the premier league is back. Another advantage that Newcastle United has is their new owners, who pack some serious cash.
In 2013 and 2017, Neymar Jr spent four years at FC Barcelona. During this time at Camp Nou, the Brazilian helped the club achieve great things, including a Champions League title in 2014.
He formed an iconic partnership with Lionel Messi Uruguayan Luis Suárez at Barcelona, also known as the trident ‘MSN’ partnership. Luis Suárez also came to support his former teammates as they faced ill-treatment from PSG fans.
Neymar Jr, had in a ground-breaking deal of €222 million, Barcelona for PSG in 2017 in a record breaking deal.
Things do not look good for the PSG which might only have Lionel Messi as a star forward left on their side at the beginning of the next season.
As fans speculate, Kylian Mbappé is also in no mood to renew his contract with PSG and might move to Real Madrid.
