Will Manchester United buy out Indian Super League club?
BCCI president and former India captain Sourav Ganguly is facilitating a deal between Indian football club East Bengal and Manchester United
As of now, negotiations are on with the Red Devils, and the deal could be game-changing for the struggling East Bengal. English Premier League club Manchester United may take ownership of East Bengal, one of the oldest football clubs in the country. BCCI president and former India captain Sourav Ganguly told the media that a final decision might be made in two weeks.

East Bengal has also been linked with Bangladesh-based conglomerate Bashundhara Group, but it couldn't culminate into a deal. On Tuesday, Ganguly disclosed that it would take 10-12 more days to know who would accept the agreement.
He added that the European football giants might walk in as an owner rather than an investor when asked by the media. However, they refused to give further details and insisted that the process takes time. It hasn't solidified into a stage where he could make comments or announcements, so he chooses to talk only in case of any concrete developments.
CM of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee helped East Bengal, but the club failed to perform
The cement conglomerate purchased a majority stake of 76 per cent to help them enter the league and tackle their arch-rivals Mohun Bagan who merged with ATK the same season. Their executive committee refrained from signing the final agreement due to discrepancies in the initial term. At Mamata Banerjee's request, Shree Cement continued to support the last 2021 edition, but the club further went south, and the club finished at the bottom of the table with just one win from 20 matches, including 11 losses and eight draws. Their association ended in May after Shree Cement Ltd relinquished the sporting rights.
