Will Harry Kane join Manchester United?
Harry Kane will not join Manchester United this summer after making his decision to stay at Tottenham Hotspur. He plans to take his time before making the next move with two years still left on his contract with Spurs.
Apart from the United connection, Harry Kane was also allegedly linked to Manchester City last summer. United have been eyeing the England captain for a while now and the latter had intended to leave the club to join other trophy-winning teams. However, he has now made peace with his progress under Antonio Conte at Spurs. Reports suggest that he will rethink his future at Tottenham after the summer transfer window. Moreover, he will turn down Manchester United and stay at Tottenham this summer.
Harry Kane's Preferred Club
The England captain wanted to leave Spurs last summer in order to join Manchester City and increase his chances of winning trophies. However, the Spurs redeemed themselves under Antonio Conte and finished in the seventh place in the 2020-21 campaign. Now, they are currently in contention to qualify for next year's Champions League. United's potential manager Erik Ten Hag is said to have developed an interest in inviting Kane to Old Trafford. However, they would've had more chances of convincing the 28-year-old if Mauricio Pochettino replaced interim boss Ralf Rangnick.
Pochettino is in Paris Saint-Germain at the moment. He had forged a great partnership with Kane during his time at Tottenham which concluded when Pochettino left in November 2019. Although he is one of the candidates who could possibly become the new boss, Ajax boss Ten Hag has more chances. According to Sportsmail, the 52-year-old had offered his allegiance to the German side, RB Leipzig, when they made a lucrative offer of signing him up. However, the Red Devils presented the Dutchman with a three-year contract which has the possibility of extending another year.
Tottenham Spurs Unwilling to Let Kane Go
The striker had almost settled with City's offering of up to £125million, but the Spurs were reluctant to trade. They insisted that Kane was not up for sale which momentarily irked the England captain who thought chairman Daniel Levy had broken a promise. After a brief period of struggle after the transfer controversy, he finally found peace within the club.
As a consequence, he has exhibited good form since the last week of December 2021 when Tottenham's 2-2 draw with Liverpool took place. Kane has managed to score 11 goals and provide seven assists in the Premier League thereafter. His team Tottenham, who were expected to bow out of the race for the Champions League a few months back have considerably improved.
After Spurs won 4-0 against Aston Villa on April 9, 2022, Kane was applauded for delivering two assists. Now the club is now in fourth place and three points ahead of their rivals Arsenal. They have seven games left where Spurs will face challenging opponents including title challengers Liverpool at Anfield, as well as the Gunners at home.
