UEFA Nation's League: Andrej Kramaric scores the Equaliser as Croatia holds France 1-1
Croatia tied against France 1-1 in a UEFA Nations League match at Stadion Poljud in Split, Croatia, on June 6
Adrian Rabiot in the 52nd minute was the goalscorer for France, while Andrej Kramaric in the 83rd minute equalised for Croatia. Defending champions France failed to win their second match after a 2-1 home loss to a spirited Denmark last week.
Coach of the French national team, Didier Deschamps, made ten changes to the team as they went onto the field without Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe. In contrast, the Croatian side was missing top names like Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic.
Croatia started the match with strength and placed continuously pressure on the French defensive line. However, France began to trouble Croatia after the 30-minute mark, piling pressure on the left flank. French forward Moussa Diaby got close to scoring just before the half-time. A strike by Aurelien Tchouameni was parried away by the Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic.
Adrian Rabiot opened the scoring for France in the 52nd minute with a low-level shot after receiving a pass from Wissam Ben Yedder, giving France a 1-0 lead. However, substitute Jonathan Clauss committed a foul in the French box giving Croatia a penalty. Andrej Kramaric fired the ball into the net to level the score quickly.
Following the tie, the French football manager Didier Deschamps said, "We did good things considering all the changes. We were ahead and could have scored more, but it is a pity we gifted them the equaliser. It was, however, a coherent performance. They barely threatened in the second half.
