Transfer News: English Premier League
Arsenal might splurge this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to improve his squad for next season. They could usher in a brand new striker, and several high-profile signings have been linked to the club
Arsenal spent £150million on recruits last year, but things look uncertain without a Champions League spot reserved for the Gunners for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Chelsea has been reeling from a brutal FA Cup final defeat at the weekend. They now have two free hit fixtures to finish their Premier League campaign with a Champions League football spot secured. Here are all the latest updates on the Blues and the Gunners!
Arsenal is not in a position to land Dybala
Arsenal might not sign Paulo Dybala this summer if they don't qualify for the Champions League. He is ready to leave Juventus, but Tottenham and Inter Milan are also pursuing his signature. Mikel Arteta's side is currently fifth and has been suffering consecutive defeats. Meanwhile, Palmeiras midfielder Danilo has been linked with the Gunners, and the 21-year-old who modelled his game on N'Golo Kante might leave the Brazilian club this summer if a club offers him £21million (€25m).
Spurs might target Martinez and offload a few players
Tottenham might race Arsenal to land the signature of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez this summer. Antonio Conte's side is in the fourth position, two points ahead of Arsenal. Moreover, the Argentine is unlikely to transfer without any scope for his appearance in the Champions League. Strikers such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Gabriel Jesus, Ollie Watkins, Darwin Nunez, Jonathan David, and Armando Broja have been linked to the Gunners. Memphis Depay is the latest addition to the list as Barcelona is reportedly interested in offloading Depay. Furthermore, Eddie Nketiah, Alexandre Lacazette, and Bernd Leno have been named on the outgoing list.
Ousmane Dembele is tempted to join Chelsea
Barcelona president Joan Laporta stated that Ousmane Dembele might be eyeing a possible transfer to Stamford or another club in Europe, despite the club offering him a new contract. Thomas Tuchel's side wanted to pay a reduced fee to end his dispiriting spell in Barca's nightmare. However, things look uncertain for the midfielder. Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher told Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel how to land their equivalent of "Roy Keane and Bryan Robson." Tuchel has been advised to sign Declan Rice, a top-notch player reminiscent of Keane and Robson.
Chelsea might produce their next Mason Mount, who could be Antonio Rudiger's successor
Levi Colwill from Huddersfield Town extended his Chelsea contract and joined the West Yorkshire side in June 2021. His fate might unfold in a way that resembles Reece James and Mason Mount, who was retained as permanent team members. In addition, Robert Lewandowski is expecting to move to Barcelona, but Tuchel is also targetting the Polish international.
