Transfer News and Updates from Manchester United/City and Real Madrid/Barcelona
The summer 2022 transfer window is expected to be one of the most remarkable events in football history. January transfer windows have also managed to attract hype over the years.
Real Madrid
The club is currently dealing with issues at the back, which has paved a possibility for Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger's entry this summer. The German's arrival looks inevitable, and his skills further suggest that he could find a spot in the starting XI. Carlo Ancelotti will reset the whole team that will be blessed with a quality addition like Rudiger. If Spanish centre-back Jesús Vallejo is sold, there will be another empty spot that can be filled by a talented Castilla defender like Rafa Marin. The 19-year-old has drawn interest from clubs like RB Leipzig. He is ready for first-team football, along with a promotion.
Barcelona
We can expect to see Frenkie De Jong depart Camp Nou this season from Barca's existing lineup. The Dutch midfielder disclosed earlier this season that he wants to stay in Barcelona, further reiterated by manager Xavi Hernandez. The Catalans have set up an agreement with AC Milan's Franck Kessie and Chelsea's Andreas Christensen to join them as free agents at the end of the season.
Spanish journalist Gaston Edul reported that Barcelona is also targetting Argentina international Angel Di Maria. Furthermore, Robert Lewandowski is among the most high-profile players ready to leave their current clubs this summer. According to Mundo Deportivo, the iconic Polish striker is striving to join Barcelona and is even willing to suffer a pay cut if it confirms a spot in the club.
Manchester United
With new boss Erik ten Hag's arrival, things are about to shake up. James Garner will return from loan at Nottingham Forest. His entry could help solve ten Hag's headaches directly from Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic's upcoming free departure. Donny van de Beek is another player who could act as a pillar for the club, and the Dutchman is still admired by mentor Ten Hag, despite his struggles since moving to English football back in September 2020.
Reports also point toward Andreas Pereira's signing as he worked with ten Hag at PSV Eindhoven. Norwich loanee Brandon Williams might find another chance to display his skills under the manager, and as a versatile full-back, his participation seems much-needed. The 21-year-old has been thriving on loan at Carrow Road this season and already has experience playing at left-back for United.
Manchester City
Although all the signs and statements point to Erling Haaland's possible shift to Manchester City, the team's manager Pep Guardiola has not confirmed anything. Ahead of some massive fixtures, one of which involves the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League against Real Madrid, refused to talk about a report that reveals news about a deal between the two parties. The city is also reportedly targetting Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane over the summer, but it has not proceeded further.
