Transfer News: Agent denies claims as Getafe president Angel Torres reveals Gareth Bale transfer offer
Angel Torres, President of Getafe, has disclosed that the Madrid-based La Liga minnows were offered the chance to sign Gareth Bale in a significant transfer
After winning five Champions League trophies with Real Madrid in the past, the 32-year-old attacker will say goodbye to Bernabeu at the end of his contract.
Before Wales' Sunday victory over Ukraine in Cardiff, Bale had considered retirement. However, he is now searching for a new club following the qualification. It has come in the headlines that Bale's agent has floated him to Getafe FC, near his old club Real Madrid.
On Wednesday, Getafe president Torres opened up about Bale's news and stated, "Someone may take it as a joke, but 45 or 50 minutes ago I spoke with his agents, and they offered him to us. It is not a joke. I have to think about it and talk to the coach. I don't know if he will come. Of course, it's a possibility, all great footballers are."
Getafe is managed by Quique Sanchez Flores, the former Watford manager, who may now play a role in the final decision on a deal.
Bale's unique selling point and pull for moving to Getafe is that he would not have to leave his family in Madrid to relocate.
Gareth Bale's agent denies any offer
Bale was linked to Premier League return with Tottenham and Cardiff City homecoming. However, Angel Torres, Getafe's president, suggested he could remain in Spain.
Joshua Barnett, Gareth Bale's representative, laughed off the talk about staying in Spain after leaving Real Madrid as a free agent.
The son of Jonathan Barnett, the man who manages Gareth Bale's career, claimed that he had never spoken with Getafe, the La Liga minnows.
Barnett told transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, "I don't even have the president of Getafe's number."
Keeping this in mind, Bale will probably return to British shores in the summer, so it is unlikely a deal will be keeping Bale in La Liga.
Although he had five Champions League victories, three LaLiga titles, and a glittering career at Real Madrid, Bale was not popular with fans in the last years of his nine-year stint.
The Welshman was only featured seven times in the 2021/22 campaign. However, many supporters believed that the forward cared more for golf than his £ 554,000-a-week salary at the club.
Gareth Bale's future was in jeopardy
Rumours had it that Bale could retire because he didn't feel the game was interesting if Wales failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
However, after Wales' victory over Ukraine, the Ex-Tottenham man will be determined to keep fit for the Qatar event in November.
Bale will also receive offers from Britain, with Cardiff most likely to land the Wales international.
Rob Page, Bale's national team boss, has stated that he needs a sympathetic and willing club to help him.
Bale is linked to returning to the Premier League, having played at Tottenham and Southampton. However, there are suggestions that his agents may be looking for other suitors in Spain.
