Sadio Mane: Brutal Force with Liverpool
Sadio Mane thinks Liverpool is capable of winning a monumental historic quadruple after their latest showdown against Manchester City that sent the former to the FA Cup final. "We have the team to fight for it," Sadio Mane said and vowed that 'we will do everything possible to go for it.'
They're currently second in the league and have entered the semi-finals of the Champions League. Although the Senegalese football player admits that there is scope for a lot of improvement, they're positive about overcoming the 2021 Champions League winners Chelsea in the upcoming match dated May 14, 2022.
Man of the Match Mane
The Senegal international became the man of the match in the FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City. He had secured two goals in the game and had also delivered an exceptional performance throughout the season. Now that they have clinched the Carabao Cup, confirmed a spot in the FA Cup final, entered the Champions League final four, and only need one point to make up in the title race on Pep Guardiola's side. Mane further remarked, "I think it would be early to talk about winning four trophies, but for sure I think we have to fight for it because we have the team to fight for it and we will do everything possible to go for it."
Liverpool Rise to the Occasion
Jurgen Klopp's side had set a history of 2-2 draws in the league but finally broke the spell at Wembley where they led 3-0 in the first half. City scored two goals after the break but couldn't initiate an equalizer. They are currently in their second cup final of the season after beating Manchester City. Mane further said, "We knew it would be a very tough game because Man City, if I don't say the best team in the world then for sure they are one of the best and we have to respect them." He continued, "Liverpool wants to be the best team in the world, so we are working for it. We will see if we are going to be the best team or not, but we will go for it.'
Jurgen Klopp Impressed with Mane
Sadio Mane's high energy and aggressive gameplay smashed goalkeeper Zack Steffen's efforts as the ball was sent over the line for Liverpool's second, making way for Mane's impressive sliced volley. Manager Jurgen Klopp has witnessed terrific performances by the 30-year-old, but the last match blew his mind. "He played an incredible game, an absolutely incredible game. He was the first player to start the press, so it was intense for him as well," as stated by the coach. "The first goal he scored, I love it. But I don't like too much that the goalie will get some criticism for it."
Klopp went on, "This kind of thing happens. If you want to play football, that can happen, but the acceleration of Sadio, the desire to get there, was really great. So this goal was great and the other one was obviously proper football until the final pass with the little chip (from Thiago Alcantara) and then the volley - it was a great goal." Now, it is to be seen whether Liverpool manage to snag a quadruple as per Mane’s expectations.
