Tottenham have been dealt another injury blow after the club confirmed Richarlison has undergone groin surgery.
Richarlison was an unused substitute in Monday's 4-1 home defeat to Chelsea, but revealed after the match in an interview with ESPN Brasil that he had struggled with a problem for months.
Spurs have now revealed Richarlison has had an operation to fix the issue and the PA news agency understands he is set for weeks on the sidelines, with an estimated return date of around the festive period.
"We can confirm that Richarlison has undergone groin surgery today," a club statement read.
"The Brazil international will commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff immediately, before returning to training in the coming weeks."
Richarlison joins a host of first-team players on the treatment table with Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic (knee) all long-term absentees.
Spurs also lost Micky van de Ven midway through Monday's derby with what looked a serious hamstring injury.
Van de Ven will sit out the trip to Wolves on Saturday and be missing for the foreseeable future, while Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie will be banned following their respective red cards against Chelsea.
James Maddison was also forced off in the defeat with a blow to the ankle, but was named in Gareth Southgate's England squad on Thursday.
