Real Madrid eye Alphonso Davies as Bayern Munich contract talks stall

Real Madrid's ambition to bolster their squad with top-notch talent has set their sights on Alphonso Davies, the versatile player currently with Bayern Munich.

    Alphonso Davies. Alphonso Davies.

Davies, 22, who can operate as both a left-back and winger, is nearing the end of his contract with Bayern, which expires in the summer of 2025. The Los Blancos are closely monitoring his situation, ready to make a move next year if he doesn't renew his contract with the Bundesliga champions.

Davies has long been hailed as one of the brightest young stars in the footballing world. While his rise at Bayern has been impressive, it may not have reached the meteoric heights initially anticipated. It begs the question: has his development stalled since his breakout season in 2019/2020 when Bayern clinched the Champions League title, defeating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the final?

Davies, possibly in search of new horizons, is at a crossroads. Recent reports from SPORT1 suggest that contract negotiations between Bayern and Davies' management have hit a temporary standstill. While Bayern desire to secure his services for an extended period, they must present a compelling sporting and financial plan to his advisor, Nick Househ.

This impasse spells good news for Real Madrid. With each passing day without a new contract, the likelihood of Davies departing Bayern grows. Bayern undoubtedly hope to avoid a repeat of the situation they faced with David Alaba, who departed for Los Blancos as a free agent a couple of summers ago.

Davies could be a valuable asset for Real Madrid, especially in the left-back position, where they currently face some challenges. Although they acquired Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano in the summer, he has emerged as the preferred starter.

Meanwhile, Ferland Mendy's persistent fitness concerns have prompted rumours of his potential departure from the club. Alphonso Davies, with his versatility and youthful vigour, could be just the solution Real need to bolster their squad.
