Premier League: Nottingham Forest 1-0 West Ham
Nottingham Forest tasted glory in their first home game in the Premier League by defeating West Ham 1-0 on Sunday. The club has made 14 new additions to retain its top-flight status; two were lauded for their heroics
They have spent 100 million pounds in transfer fees and fished out an estimated 200,000 pounds per week to keep Jesse Lingard on a one-year deal.
He had a role in the winner as his shot couldn't get past Ben Johnson but rebounded off Taiwo Awoniyi's knee, which became the only goal for the two-time European champions.
Dean Henderson then fended off Declan Rice's penalty to maintain their lead. Rice had found the best chance after Scott McKenna handled Tomas Soucek's delivery.
However, Henderson became Forest's saviour as he dived low to his right and sabotaged the opponent's chance at scoring.
In addition, Hammers had a first-half goal ruled out and missed two more targets. Benrahma's strike from Rice's pass did not stand after a VAR review for a foul by Michail Antonio.
Pablo Fornals made a scoring effort which smashed into the crossbar seconds into the second period before Said Benrahma repeated the feat from an almost-perfect free-kick.
Neco Williams exhibited tough defence when he cleared Kurt Zouma's header off the line late, and the club managed to secure a satisfying win.
West Ham has not won a single match since the beginning of the season. Their recent outing comes as a massive blow after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City the previous weekend.
