Premier League: Tottenham Hotspur snatch victory after falling behind, but Antonio Conte's celebration & Lucas Moura's scuffle make headlines
Saturday's Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth saw the visitors trail by two goals before substitute Rodrigo Bentancur's goal late in stoppage time clinched a thrilling 3-2 comeback triumph
Three days after seeing a stoppage-time winner ruled offside by VAR against Sporting at home in the Champions League, Antonio Conte's Spurs were again involved in late drama.
As a result of Kieffer Moore's two-goal performance, Tottenham was destined for a third consecutive Premier League loss, but they exhibited tremendous resolve to remain in the third position.
As they drove Bournemouth back, Tottenham, who substituted Eric Dier, Bentancur, Lucas Moura, and Ivan Perisic in the second half, were unrecognisable from their first-half performance.
With one eye on Tuesday's crucial Champions League match against Marseille, in which Spurs must avoid defeat to advance to the round of 16, Conte made several substitutions, and Bournemouth capitalised.
Spurs stepped on the pressure after defender Ben Davies scored the equaliser unopposed in the 73rd minute and scored without opposition. In stoppage time, they were rewarded when the ball dropped to Bentancur in the penalty box, and he sent a shot past Mark Travers.
Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to defeat Bournemouth 3-2, and Antonio Conte reacted pretty bluntly to Rodrigo Bentancur's game-winning goal.
During the raucous celebrations, Conte carefully descended the tunnel before reappearing in the final minutes.
When asked about it, Conte said, "I came back when I knew that the goal was regular."
"I thought in my mind and my heart if something happens then I can have a heart attack, because in two days to score and then to be disallowed I said, I go down [the tunnel]. Then I stayed calm and waited for the decision of the referee."
Tottenham Hotspur's Lucas Moura gets into a scuffle with a Bournemouth Ball boy
Spurs were looking for an equaliser after falling behind 2-0 to the Cherries, and this incident occurred in the second half. Soon after the ball had slowly drifted out of play, one of the ball boys retrieved it from the sideline.
Instead of passing it back to the players, he got into a brief scuffle with Moura as the Brazilian wanted to restart play as soon as possible. It caused a commotion among the spectators, and Bournemouth player Jaidon Anthony challenged the Spurs winger.
Tottenham, however, got the final laugh as the ball boy was led away from the sidelines and into the tunnel.
Spurs are now third with 26 points after 13 games, while Bournemouth is 14th with 13 points after losing their last three.
