Premier League: Super Saturday - Antonio Conte has little faith in officials, and Juergen Klopp's men have little confidence
Emerson Royal's sent-off was the turning point, laments Conte. "It killed the game," and again questioned the standard of umpiring in the Premier League
Thomas Partey's strike and goals from Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka gave Arsenal a 3-1 win over Spurs, who lost for the first time in the league this season.
In his 65th goal for the Gunners, Partey scored outside the box for his first Arsenal goal, while Kane levelled from the spot for his 14th goal in 18 appearances.
"Sometimes you are lucky, sometimes unlucky," Conte said. "The red card killed the game, this is truth, but not because we remained with ten men, but because [our] team [which was] really, really offensive and also in the four or five minutes to make the substitutions, we were so offensive that it was really difficult to defend and we conceded the third goal."
"I don't know what happened later, but in England, I have to be honest, it is very difficult because they don't have the same line, you understand? Sometimes you see situations that could be a red card, instead yellow card or no yellow card."
Liverpool has low confidence: Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool's poor start to the season continued at home thanks to Brighton thanks to Leandro Trossard's hat-trick for the visitors in an entertaining 3-3 draw.
The Belgian had given new manager Roberto De Zerbi a dream debut by scoring twice inside the first 17 minutes against some ragged defending, only for Roberto Firmino's double either side of half-time and Adam Webster's own goal to turn things around for the hosts.
The manager said that "The confidence level now is not extraordinarily high," Jurgen Klopp said. "In difficult moments like this, you have to fight so hard that you get momentum and confidence back step by step."
"We had confident moments – Bobby for the second goal – but the passing game was not good. We passed balls all over the place, which we can only explain by saying we were not confident at that moment because of how the game started."
"We are under pressure, we don't ignore that, we don't increase it every day, but it is there. We want to do much better, have more points, improve in the table and then we are 2-0 down against a really good opponent. They always cause us problems here. They play between the lines really well. We have to keep working."
The Liverpool manager said he could feel apprehension around Anfield and shared the fans' concerns over his team's unconvincing defending.
"You remember games here from years ago when we were only one goal up and it happened quite frequently that everybody was nearly having a heart attack because we were just not convincing in these moments," Klopp said.
