Premier League News: Tensions pave the way for hostility between Thomas Tuchel and former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte
Last minute header by Tottenham Hotspur skipper Harry Kane led to a dramatic equaliser as Chelsea lost their lead to a 2-2 draw against the Spurs
Reece James seemed to have earned the points for the Blues with a 77th-minute strike, but Kane turned the tables in the sixth minute of stoppage time to close out a fierce Premier League derby at Stamford Bridge.
Tensions pave the way for hostility between Tuchel and former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte
Chelsea interim boss Thomas Tuchel and his Spurs counterpart Antonio Conte (a former Chelsea boss) flashed red cards seconds after the final whistle as aggression overpowered civility in west London.
Centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly had a great start to his home debut where he volleyed Chelsea in front from a corner in the 19th minute. The hosts dominated the first half and pinned the Spurs against a 70% possession rate.
Chelsea's reign continued in the second half that would have transitioned into an exciting win for the Blues had it not been for two controversial goals from the opposition team.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg equalised in the 68th minute, and Tuchel was enraged at the referee for having allowed it believing Kai Havertz had been fouled seconds before, which resulted in a clash with Conte.
Havertz then missed a crucial chance to put his team back in the lead, but the hosts converted another shot in the 77th minute when James kicked past Hugo Lloris from a pass by Raheem Sterling.
Tottenham, crushed by the Blues' defence throughout the match, were saved by Kane's last-minute header that granted them a point. Tottenham has registered only a single win in their last 38 visits to Stamford Bridge across all events.
After the incident, Conte told "I don't want to comment on the situation. I don't think it's the most important thing. If there is a problem, it is between him and me, not everyone else.
"I want to speak about the game, not the situation between the two coaches."
Tuchel added: "I thought when we shake hands, we would look into each others' eyes. He had a different opinion. It was emotional. He was happy when he equalised. I got a bit heated.
