Premier League News: Diego Costa be back in Premier League?
Striker Diego Costa's search for a club after his departure from Brazil side Atletico Mineiro in January ends now that the Wolverhampton Wanderers are expected to sign him. The move will welcome Costa back into the Premier League after five years
The former Chelsea striker will replace £15million new arrival Sasa Kalajdzic who has sustained a knee injury. After switching from Stuttgart to the Wolves, the 25-year-old Austrian was down in the club's 1-0 win against Southampton at Molineux on Saturday.
With 31-year-old Raul Jimenez being the only available striker in Bruno Lage's side, they have turned to 33-year-old Costa. He will join training on Tuesday and complete the required medical formalities.
The Spain international will receive a one-year contract at Wolves if he shows good form. During his stint at Stamford, Costa scored 52 goals in 89 games and won two titles.
However, he has struggled after his exit from Chelsea having just found the net 19 times across all competitions for Atletico Madrid and his previous club.
Costa's silverware cabinet current boasts two La Liga titles, three European Super Cups, Europa League, the Brazilian title, Copa del Rey, Brazilian Cup and EFL Cup besides two Premier League wins with Chelsea.
In addition, he secured 24 senior caps for Spain. Wolves have had a shaky start to the season and conceded their first five games. Their recent 1-0 victory against Southampton has lifted them to the 14th position.
Unfortunately, their next four opponents are Liverpool, Manchester City, West Ham and Chelsea.
