Premier League: Manchester United VS Everton: Cristiano Ronaldo completes milestone in Red Devils' win over Everton
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first Premier League goal of the season to help Manchester United to a 2-1 victory over Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday
Ronaldo, who is 37 years old, scored his 700th club goal to give United the lead after Antony had equalised Alex Iwobi's early opener.
Alex Iwobi had given Everton the lead with a sublime strike, but Antony quickly equalised for Manchester United by finishing a fast counterattack.
Martial put up United's first goal with an inch-perfect pass to Antony, but he was forced out with another injury within the first 30 minutes.
The Red Devils dominated the first half and had scoring opportunities before Cristiano Ronaldo scored his second goal, beating Jordan Pickford calmly.
The 37-year-old Ronaldo replaced the injured Anthony Martial in the 29th minute and scored the game-winning goal shortly before halftime.
Manchester United made reparations, while Cristiano Ronaldo created history. The all-time leader in goals scored in men's international football and the Champions League became the first player to achieve 700 goals for a club as Erik ten Hag's squad rebounded from their thrashing at the hands of Manchester City with an outstanding victory over Everton.
Ronaldo's last outing at Goodison Park resulted in a disappointing loss and an FA charge for knocking a young Everton fan's phone out of his hand.
He will recall the return with significantly greater love. The 37-year-first old's Premier League goal of the season resulted in a well-deserved victory and a spot in football history that not even Pele, Ferenc Puskas, or Lionel Messi have yet reached.
The second United run will not be remembered as the happiest period of Ronaldo's extraordinary career, but it has witnessed something special.
Manchester United's boss Erik Ten Hag congratulates Cristiano Ronaldo on the 700th
After Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 700th club goal, Erik ten Hag showed his happiness for the Portuguese superstar.
Ten Hag feels it will assist the veteran forward in scoring more goals for United.
Ten Hag said, "It's difficult to say. It's clear to say it is a massive performance from the player. Congratulations to Cristiano. I'm happy for him. Also, that was his first goal this season in the Premier League so it will help him to score more goals in the coming weeks."
Ten Hag was satisfied with his team's performance and character after the Red Devils' 6-3 loss against Manchester City in their previous league outing.
He continued, "We wanted a reaction [from the Man City defeat]. We got it already in Cyprus and we had to finish this week good and we did. We develop as a team. We have steps to go. There's room for improvement but the first half was quite good. We controlled the game in and out of possession."
The victory was United's fourth in five Premier League matches, with Ten Hag's squad reclaiming fifth place.
