Premier League: House Cleaning Arsenal Style
The January departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang caused controversy for Arteta, but the Spanish coach has kept up his practice of letting high-paid, seasoned players go
A contract extension was not given to Alexandre Lacazette, who left for Lyon along with French teenager Matteo Guendouzi to leave the Emirates Stadium.
After his loan agreement, Marseille paid an unknown sum to acquire Matteo Guendouzi, marking his final permanent departure. Nuno Tavares brought him to Marseille, although only on loan from Portugal.
After a less than impressive season in red and white, Alex Lacazette was also on his way to France, this time on a free transfer.
Konstantinos Mavropanos went to Stuttgart, Lucas Torreira went to Galatasary, Omari Hutchinson went to Chelsea, and Bernd Leno left for Fulham.

After deciding to part ways with Lacazette, Arsenal has announced new contracts for two other players whose contracts expire at the end of June.
Eddie Nketiah ended rumours about his future by signing a rich five-year contract. At the same time, Mohamed Elneny received a new year-long deal for his outstanding efforts in the latter part of the season.
Returning loanees of Arsenal
While Mavropanos and Guendouzi both left after their purchase clauses at Marseille and Stuttgart, respectively, were activated.
William Saliba, a France international who was formerly on loan with the Ligue 1 club, has been recalled by Arteta. He is eager to make an impression even though Marseille is rumoured to be considering making a permanent transfer offer for him.

Following the club's business in the transfer window, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed satisfaction with the depth of the squad in his final remarks.
However, he added that the club failed in its attempt to sign the midfielder on deadline day due to injuries to Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny.
The Spanish player seems unfazed by the departure of up to 37 players from the London club, including notable players like Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe.
After five games, Arsenal is the only side with a perfect winning record; they continued to defeat a resurgent Manchester United to secure another victory.
However, because of outstanding goals from Marcus Rashford and newly signed Antony, The Red Devils defeated The Gunners and eliminated them from the game.
As they embark on a massive 18 games in 70 days before the World Cup, the past outgoings have suggested that Arsenal may be pretty undersized. That's slightly over a match every three and a half days.
It is also not a simple run. With trips to Chelsea, Leeds, and Brentford, along with their Europa League trips to the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland, Tottenham, Liverpool, and Manchester City are currently on the schedule for the upcoming six weeks.
Arsenal needed a midfielder going into Deadline Day because Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny were injured, but despite their best efforts to sign Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, Youri Tielemans of Leicester went unsigned.
At the bottom of Arsenal's three-person midfield pivot, Albert Sambi Lokonga is the only known and coveted player. Even though Ben White, Granit Xhaka, and Oleksandr Zinchenko can appear there, the shortlist is far from ideal.
The right wing is the other area of worry, as Nicolas Pepe was fired, and no replacement for Bukayo Saka was brought in.
The England international appeared in 47 consecutive Premier League games for Arsenal, the second-highest streak among outfield players currently competing in the top tier. Towards the end of the previous campaign, he appeared physically worn out.
Now that Reiss Nelson is sidelined and Fabio Vieira is the only other player who could play in the 21-year-old's position, Saka will likely have to hold the right-wing slot on his own.
Arsenal has generally done some decent business with players like Gabriel Jesus, William Saliba, and Zinchenko making an early impact as newcomers.
With their limited resources, it will be interesting to see if they can maintain their position and outperform the competitors.
