Pep Guardiola claims De Bruyne is "beyond perfect" and says Haaland will help Man City score more
After the midfielder netted four goals, Pep Guardiola hailed Kevin De Bruyne to help Manchester City thrash Wolves 5-1 at Molineux
This result restores City's three-point lead at the top of the Premier League rankings as a better goal difference has now been established. They will successfully claim the title if they beat West Ham this weekend. After the much-needed win and a whopping five-goal tally, Guardiola praised De Bruyne, calling him their "key man." He said, "We played really well in this stadium we know how difficult it is. Three points, rest and then West Ham. [De Bruyne] has played the last two or three months, especially in the Premier League outstanding and in the Champions League as well. He has been our key man in this part of the season."
The City's interim boss further remarked, "It is not just what he creates and the goals and everything. He helps us a lot. I am happy because Kevin is so generous and always thinking of the best for the team, but this year is also the most prolific for him. Always we concede a goal when we don't deserve it. At that moment we were in control. We concede a goal but after we found a goal quickly, which helped us a lot."
The City is expected to improve next season further.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed that Erling Haaland is to move to City from Borussia Dortmund. The announcement was made earlier this week, and upon the signing, Guardiola said, "It is a decision for the club to make a good sign for the future. Hopefully, he can come for many, many years, and I am sure he will adapt perfectly to our team for next season.
"The players make you a good manager. He is an incredible young talent, the perfect age. I am pretty sure we will help him settle as best possible." Some deemed his message frightening because it meant Haaland would help the already free-scoring Man City score even more next season. No other team before City in English top-flight history has won five consecutive league games by a margin of at least three goals, despite mounting pressure at every step. They have won their last five Premier League games to an aggregate score of 22-1, becoming the top goal scorers across Europe's big five leagues (Spain, Italy, France, Germany and England).
