Nottingham Forest sign Atletico Madrid defender Felipe and Jonjo Shelvey
Nottingham Forest added more players to their ranks on Tuesday night by signing experienced defender Felipe from Atletico Madrid and midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from Newcastle United.
Forest added the 29th player to their ranks since the summer by signing experienced centre-back Felipe on an 18-month-deal.
The 33-year-old has been in and around some of the best teams in Europe for the majority of his career. He has even won titles in Portugal and Spain.
Felipe has been heavily out of favour this season, making only four appearances in all competitions so far. During the only Champions League game he took part in, he was sent off after receiving two yellow cards.
When asked about why he chose to join Forest, he said: "It was a dream of mine to play in the Premier League and I'm really excited to be part of this wonderful, fast-growing club.
"You can see it's a club looking to really grow. It's a big challenge for me and I made a clear decision to be part of the history here and grow with the club."
Forest then completed more business before the deadline with the arrival of Shelvey from Newcastle.
The 30-year-old England international, who spent seven years on Tyneside, has signed a deal to stay at the City Ground until the summer of 2025. Shelvey told his new club's website: "As soon as I found out Forest were interested, it caught my eye straight away and I just couldn't wait to get down here. "It's a fantastic football club that has so much history and I'm really looking forward to getting started."
