Mumbai FC holds Al Jazira to a goalless tie, goes at the third spot in Group B

The draw helped lift the Indian club to the third spot in Group B, where they are leveled with the second-placed Al Jazira club with four points.
It was Mumbai FC’s fourth game of the AFC Champions League. Both sides fought tooth and nail, with neither side willing to give opportunities to their opponent. In the end, both the squads went away with one point each after a hard-fought match.
The draw helped Mumbai FC set the record for the highest points tallied by an Indian club. They have also broken FC Goa’s record of three points in the AFC Champions League. Mumbai FC sits at the third spot with four points with the opportunity to get a spot in the next round still in play.
The first half of the match was a cagey affair. Al Jazira started well, but Mumbai FC resisted the early pressure. Both the sides failed to create an opportunity to score in the first 25 minutes. In the 30th minute, Al Jazira striker Bruno took a shot after receiving a cross, but it was saved by the Mumbai FC goalkeeper Phurba Lachenpa.
The second half began just like the first half, with both the teams struggling to convert any of the opportunities. Phurba Lachenpa continued his stellar performance and thwarted all attempts by Al Jazira to open the scoring. Diego Mauricio got close to giving Mumbai FC the lead in the last few minutes of the match, but his shot was saved by Ali Khasif.
The match ended in a goalless draw, with one point going to both the teams. Mumbai City FC moved to third place in Group B, and with four points, they are tied with Al Jazira in the second place.
Mumbai FC will next go up against group leader Al-Shabab at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium on April 23.
