Manchester United Transfer News: Erik ten Hag greenlights Pau Torres signing and Victor Lindelof up for sale
Manchester United could welcome Pau Torres in the upcoming summer transfer window as the new interim boss and has approved his signing at Old Trafford
Rumours surrounding the Spain international joining Manchester United started a year ago. However, he decided to stay back in Villarreal instead and helped his team reach the semi-finals of the Champions League this year, where Jurgen Klopp's side decimated them.
Manchester United is looking for big signings, which includes a new defender this summer
Manchester United wanted to sign the centre-back a year back when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge of the roster. However, after Raphael Varane swooped in from Real Madrid's La Liga Titans, Torres took a step back and stayed with Unai Emery's team. The Red Devils are still interested as Ten Hag has green-lit the signing of the Spanish international ahead of the next campaign. Manchester United wanted to improve their defence and provide competition for Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane.
This season, Torres has created a desirable reputation after pushing his side to a memorable Champions League semi-final run under Unai Emery. Their journey is marked by milestone victories against Juventus and Bayern Munich before making it to the final four. The centre-back now desires to play in Europe's elite competition, which cannot be presented by United considering how they finished sixth in the Premier League rankings.
Mohamed Salah reveals he will stay at Liverpool next season amid Sadio Mane's uncertainty
Mohamed Salah has decided to stay at Liverpool next season, but Sadio Mane does not want to disclose his plans until after the Champions League final. Salah's contract will expire at the end of next season, so he has to agree to new terms, but Liverpool is not willing to match the Egyptian's demands. The news has convinced people that the forward could depart this summer. However, Salah has dismissed those fears by confirming that he will stay back at Liverpool next season, regardless of whether his contract is renewed this summer.
Before the Champions League summit clash against Real Madrid, the Premier League Golden Boot winner remarked, "I don't focus on my contract; I don't want to be selfish at all. This is about the team now; this is a really important week for us, and I'm just focused on the team.” He further said, "I am staying at Liverpool next season, that's clear. In my mind, I don't focus on contract right now". However, Salah's teammate Mane's future at the club is uncertain. Bayern Munich has been heavily linked with a move for the Senegalese attacker as his contract expires this summer. The 30-year-old is not ready to commit to Liverpool yet and will provide an answer after the Champions League final.
