Manchester United News: Antony overcomes two key obstacles ahead of potential transfer
According to reports, Manchester United is close to signing Anthony for £84 million. The Red Devils met Ajax's asking price for the winger, and his representatives are staying in England to finalize the deal
Manchester United is also interested in signing Sergio Dest from Barcelona to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a right-back.
Brazillian forward Antony has already overcome two obstacles ahead of a potential transfer to Manchester United.
Antony is one of the top targets of Manchester United for the ongoing summer transfer window. AFC Ajax has asked for a whopping Euro 80 million for the 22-year-old striker. However, the offer is yet to be matched by Old Trafford until now.
Antony is a product of Sao Paulo FC's youth academy and has played one season until February 2020 before leaving for Ajax.
Commentator Kevin Hatchard believes that playing for Ajax and Sao Paulo, and working with Erik ten Hag in the past, has placed Antony in an advantageous position to deal with the pressure of playing for Manchester United.
Kevin Hatchard said, "He had a tough upbringing in some ways. He then had to deal with the pressure of playing for his hometown club Sao Paulo. They won't let you off with much in Brazil, you have to perform and you have to perform straight away."
