Manchester City beats Leeds United 4-0: Premier League race goes down to the wire
Manchester City won against Leeds United 4-0 in a Premier League match at Elland Road on April 30, 2022. They regained the top spot on the Premier League charts within five hours of losing it to Liverpool.
Manchester City gave an impressive performance that prolonged relegation worries for Leeds United. The win gave reigning Premier League champions a one-point lead over Liverpool in the race for the Premium league title, with just four games left to play for both the clubs.
Rodri in the 13th minute, Nathan Aké in the 54th minute, Gabriel Jesus in the 78th minute and Fernandinho in the third minute of the extra time were the goalscorers for Manchester City. At the same time, none of the players from Leeds United was able to score.
Rodri opened the scoring for Manchester City with a header into the bottom corner on a free kick by Phil Foden. The rest of the first half ended without further goals, with Manchester City mounting attack after attack while Leeds United barely tested City's goalkeeper Ederson.
Nathan Ake doubled the lead for Manchester City nine minutes into the second half with a close-range shot after receiving a corner from Phil Foden, taking the score to 2-0.
Phil Foden was in total control of the game on the pitch and brilliantly orchestrated goal after goal for City with his spectacular talent. He set up the match's third goal with a brilliant corner, allowing Gabriel Jesus to shoot past Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier. Fernandinho scored the fourth goal for Liverpool in the last shot of the match during the extra time.
Manchester City emerged victorious over Leeds United with a 4-0. The City gave an exceptional performance even when Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez were left on the bench by Pep Guardiola to keep them fresh for the second leg of the Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid,
The race for the Premier League title is getting more and more exciting, with just four games left for both Manchester City and Liverpool. The close competition has given rise to a situation where whoever finches first loses the race.
