Leeds United are expected to announce their new manager by the end of the weekend but according to reports, Patrick Vieira is not the clear favourite.

The former Arsenal midfielder turns 47 on Friday and could be gifted the position of Leeds United manager.

However, fresh reports in the Yorkshire Evening Post say that those close to the club believe that the race is still wide open.

There are also claims that the process is dragging on as additional candidates have emerged later in the process.

Carlos Corberan was dismissed as an option early on in the process, but Vieira, Daniel Farke, and Scott Parker are still under consideration.

Little has been said about Parker in recent weeks, leading to reports that it has become a two-horse race with the Frenchman in the lead.

He joined Palace in July 2021 and has led the club to a 12th-place finish in the Premier League, also reaching an FA Cup semi-final.

Despite a poor finish to his time at Selhurst Park, Viera has shown he knows how to build a project, particularly during his time in New York City.

The main concerns among fans are his style of play, which is far less expansive than that of rival candidate Daniel Farke.

The German guided Norwich to two Championship promotions while playing an attacking brand of football.

He also seems to have the type of exuberant personality you'd associate with a Leeds United manager.

Scott Parker may appear far less enigmatic but he too has secured two Championship promotions in his time as manager.

Given the fans lust for entertaining football, we wouldn't be surprised to see Daniel Farke announced as manager in the coming days.
