Samuel Umtiti thrives on Lecce loan, but open to Barcelona return - report
Samuel Umtiti, the Barcelona defender, has been enjoying a successful season on loan at Lecce in Serie A, where he has been a key player in the backline.
Umtiti has rediscovered his form and impressed several clubs, including the likes of Inter Milan.
SPORT reports that the 29-year-old was willing to return to Barcelona if the club showed interest. He was also aware of the club's search for a new defender in the summer and has offered to step in if necessary.

Barcelona's priority for a left-footed centre-back is Inigo Martinez, with whom they are in advanced talks, according to various media sources. The club, however, is yet to confirm the deal due to strict Financial Fair Play regulations in La Liga.

Barcelona, reportedly, could sell Umtiti and Clement Lenglet to make room for Martinez. Umtiti is aware of this, but would only return to Barcelona if specifically asked to do so.
If a return to Camp Nou does not happen, Umtiti would be open to other options, but staying at Lecce for an extended period may be unlikely, given the club's economic difficulties in sustaining the defender's wages without the help of Barcelona.
As the future of Umtiti remains uncertain, it will be interesting to see how things transpire over the coming weeks.
