Kylian Mbappe: PSG to Offer Striker £150m Signing-on Fee to Retain Him
Paris St-Germain (PSG) are willing to sign a contract worth £150million with forward Kylian Mbappe to retain him at the club for another two seasons.
His contract will expire in two months and on top of that, he set up correspondence with Real Madrid months ago which makes his willingness to leave evident. However, PSG are now making one final attempt to keep him for a £21million net annual salary. Despite the deal proposed by the Parc des Princes, Madrid remains his preferred place to be.
Kylian Mbappe Does Not Reveal His Decision
After Sunday's Ligue 1 win over Lorient, striker Kylian Mbappe was asked about his plans for the upcoming summer transfer. He gave a cryptic answer which puzzled the media. "I haven't made my decision, there are new elements to consider. Which elements? Just new elements" said the young footballer. According to Balague, those "new elements" could imply Mbappe's desire to renegotiate with the Spanish club after the new offer dropped on the table.
Qatari-owned PSG wants the France forward to sign the contract and stay in the club at least until the end of the World Cup in Qatar. Although his parents represent him, the final decision will be on the 23-year-old striker. If he stays back, PSG would have to pay £42million as commission to his advisors. Real Madrid are confident about the agreement they set up with Mbappe and their interest in Erling Braut Haaland seems to be waning.
PSG vs RMA
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague revealed that the switch in Mbappe's decision-making stems from his desire to re-negotiate a free transfer switch to Real Madrid, based on PSG’s latest offer. Real Madrid are reportedly ready to offer a €25million yearly wage but would fail to match PSG’s extra fee. They were offering a £125million signing-on bonus which eventually shot up to £150million besides a yearly wage of a £21million for two seasons. The news was reported by journalist Guillem Balague, who works for media outlets such as 'CBS' and 'BBC.'
If the amount was spread out, it would boil down to a whopping €75million in each season. However, there are no updates about the process of payment distribution. It is said that they might adopt the new Financial Fair Play that UEFA has approved. In addition, it has also pleased Al-Khelaifi's presidency. Spending margins are expected to rise which could match football's high budget.
Some reports state that the striker wants 'Los Blancos' to come up with a bigger offer, around €30million per season, which is still lower than that offered by PSG. Either way, a decision is still yet to be made. Mbappe is more inclined towards the option of signing for Real Madrid than renewing his contract with PSG. He'd rather prefer European performances, particularly the one at Stamford Bridge where Karim Benzema delivered a memorable hat trick. So if he wears the white shirt next season, he would share a dressing room with his French teammate.
