Kylian Mbappe admits mistake in rushing PSG comeback against Bayern Munich
Kylian Mbappe admitted he made a mistake by featuring in Paris Saint-Germain's recent 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16 on Tuesday.
The French striker, who suffered a hamstring injury earlier this month, was initially expected to miss the Bayern game.
However, he returned to training quickly and made an appearance for the final 30 minutes of the match.
Although Mbappe's late goal was disallowed for offside, he believes he should not have risked playing in the first place.
"I'm not 100%, but I felt good enough to try and help my friends and play a little bit," he told reporters after the match. "Basically, I shouldn't have come back.
"These are matches that we work for and want to play. Watching from the sidelines is very difficult. I only had 30 minutes to give. I gave everything. I will try to recover to be as efficient as possible."
Despite the loss, PSG still have a chance of advancing to the next round and avoiding a second consecutive elimination from the Champions League last 16.
The team will play the return leg on March 8 in Munich, where Mbappe is expected to be fully recovered.
Mbappe added: "I tried everything, tried to put everything on my side so as not to have any regrets. I would have liked to play this game [in full]. These are clubs that we want to play, for which we work."
