Kai Havertz makes Robert Lewandowski's comparison amid Chelsea's attacking woes

Chelsea forward Kai Havertz has disclosed that he does not 'play like' Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski. A discrepancy in their attack continues to plague the team before their match against Everton.

The 22-year-old currently has 19 goal contributions and counting in all competitions for his team. He has won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup after transferring to Stamford for more than £70million from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020. However, his gameplay has been suffering alongside the rest of the team. His inability to convert in their recent match against Man United proves that he still has a lot to improve upon.

    Havertz's ongoing mini goal drought

At Old Trafford, he missed several opportunities, including a one-on-one chance that landed in the first half when N'Golo Kante made a forward pass, but David De Gea saved the ball. As of now, the 22-year-old finished five games without scoring any goals. "I think many players can look up to the quality, attitude and career of Ronaldo," Tuchel stated after the match regarding his number 29, drawing inspiration from Cristiano Ronaldo as a role model. "That is the target to which we work. It's also for them to adapt; there is still a time for adaptation to the rhythm and schedule. The schedule is ruthless for us, and still, it's the moment that they have to adapt to the league, the physicality, the rhythm, the demands. The boys are still young: Mason (Mount) is still young, Timo is still young, Kai is still young."

He continued, "It will come., they will learn because they are good guys and have the right attitude. It's not always easy to arrive fully composed and with the biggest ease because we demand a lot of the counter-pressing, attacking with the first line when the opponents want to play out. So they have a bit of credit." At 22, Kai Havertz has been burdened with scoring goals this term because of Romelu Lukaku's unfortunate absence. However, it is still debatable whether Chelsea would consider inserting him into the club's long term plans.

Is Havertz's future in Chelsea uncertain?

It has been reported that the new ownership structure is slated to have a discussion with Lukaku and also talk about the ongoing striker deficiencies in the team. They might sign new strikers if the existing ones take an early exit. Havertz said, "I would say yes and no regarding the position he plays in. I played a lot of positions in the last couple of years; now it is number nine. I play there in the national team. I guess it's a good position for me, I like to play there as well."

"Of course, I am not a typical number nine, I don't play like Lewandowski. I like the position and I like to be creative, be in the box, and score goals. I have a lot of other strengths as well, not only number nine. I think it's a good position at the moment." His record of securing 48 goals clad in the red of the Bavarians is something Chelsea needs right now.
