ISL Transfer News: Kerala Blasters FC welcome Greek striker Dimitrios Diamantakos
Kerala Blasters FC registered their last foreign signing of the summer with the arrival of Greek center-forward Dimitrion Diamantakos. He joined the Blasters from top-tier Croatian club HNK Hadjuk Split
The 29-year-old has played for Greece at all youth levels and netted 19 times in 46 appearances. His team was the finalist at the European Under-19 Championship, and he was the second higher scorer in the tournament.
Diamantakos has represented the Greece National Team on five occasions under the tutelage of former Premier League-winning coach Claudio Ranieri.
Now, Kerela head coach Ivan Vukomanovic will seek to replace Alvaro Vazquez, who is now in FC Goa with Diamantakos, before the new Hero Indian Super League (ISL) season.
The Greek is thrilled to start a new chapter in his career despite the challenges he could face. However, the fans' rich history and positive energy exuded make him anticipate a good season.
Sporting Director Karolis Skinkys specifically addressed the Kerela fans and asked them to congratulate Dimitrios heartily. He believes that the Greek international would add quality to the prestigious team that deserves to have star players.
Kerela FC is in the UAE for pre-season preparations before the upcoming Hero Indian Super League 2022/23 season.
Ishan Pandita extends his contract with Jamshedpur FC
Forward Ishan Pandita has agreed to a contract extension in the ISL 2021-22 League Shield winner Jamshedpur FC. The Furnace will retain the 24-year-old striker for another season.
The Indian national team forward was a key player under the guidance of former gaffer Owen Coyle in the club's memorable season. Pandita made 15 appearances last edition and was frequently used as a substitute.
He netted three times in the 2021-22 season for the Men of Steel en route to their journey of winning the League Shield. He will follow the footsteps of Daniel Chima Chukwu, who also decided to stay back at the club, and the recently signed Harry Sawyer.
Ever since his stint with the Gaurs, the Indian national team forward has delivered strong performances as a super-sub. He had evolved as a player under former gaffer Juan Ferrando.
However, there had been rumors about the striker reuniting with his former manager at ATK Mohun Bagan. However, Ishan Pandita confirmed that he would continue with the ISL champions and hone himself further before transferring to another team.
Considering the amount of game time he received, Pandita left a strong impact despite playing as a substitute. He could play as a false nine, assisting the players in creating more goal-scoring chances.
In addition, He can be a crucial player inside the box as he is always on the hunt to score for his team.
