ISL: Thomas Brdaric as new head coach for Chennaiyin FC
In a recent announcement, Thomas Brdaric was appointed the new coach of Chennaiyin FC. The club was in desperate need of a new coach given their deteriorating performance in the last season
Brdaric has coached many prestigious European clubs and is recognized as one of the best European League coaches. He recently won the Albanian league cup with KF Vllaznia bringing him back to the spotlight. Chennaiyin FC is hoping for wonders after having appointed him as the new coach.
“First of all, I would like to thank Mrs. Vita Dani and the Chennaiyin family for putting their faith in me. Honestly, I am looking forward to this incredible journey. This will be a great experience and a challenge where we will push further as one team. This is not my first time outside of Germany, therefore I am aware of most circumstances and I am ready to move forward with Chennaiyin FC. I can’t wait to get started,” said Thomas Brdaric after being appointed as the new head coach.
As a result of the poor 2021-22 ISL season, Bozidar Bandovic was sacked mid-season and was replaced with a temporary coach, Syed Sabir Pasha. This interim coach is now replaced by Thomas Brdaric owing to a bad season and in the hope of a terrific performance in the next season. Out of 75 games that this incredible player has coached, 50 were won by him and 15 ended in draws. Seeing this terrific record, the two times ISL champions Chennaiyin FC are looking forward to regaining their form under the leadership of Brdaric.
On being asked about the new coach, the co-owner of the club, Vita Dani said, “We are delighted to have Thomas Brdaric lead the team in our first real long season. We are well aware of the impact he has had at every club that he has coached and we aspire to replicate the same at CFC. We believe that his philosophy and playing style is in line with our vision.”
Brdaric says that this is not his first time coaching outside Germany and he's pretty confident about it. He feels very confident about Chennaiyin FC and is super excited to coach an Indian football club.
