Inter Miami eye joint move for Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets - report
Inter Miami, the MLS club co-owned by David Beckham, have been reportedly considering a summer move for Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets.
Both players are set to become free agents at the end of the 2022/23 season and are currently in contract talks with their respective clubs, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.
Despite their clubs' attempts to keep them, rumours have emerged that the two players could reunite at Inter Miami.
In an interview with The Times, Inter Miami coach Phil Neville confirmed that the club is interested in signing the two football legends.
"I'm not going to deny it, there is truth in the speculation that we're interested in Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets," Neville said. "We want to bring the best players in the world to this football club. Messi and Busquets are the two that stand out most in recent years.
"They're great players who would still be a massive benefit to the organization. For the MLS, it would be a game-changer," he added.
Neville's comments come amid reports that Inter Miami are planning to bring in experienced players from Europe in the coming months.
The addition of Messi and Busquets would undoubtedly be a huge boost for the club and the MLS as a whole. While PSG and Barcelona are still hoping to retain the services of the two players, a move to the US could be on the cards.
Only time will tell if Inter Miami can pull off what would be a major coup for the club.
