ISL: Race for the Golden Boot. ISL: Race for the Golden Boot.

The quality shown in the final third across the board is brilliant, with many players scoring goals for their teams.

The likes of Jorge Pereyra Diaz, an experienced ISL player, and new players like Dimitri Petratos have been hogging attention from the crowd. They have started a bid to finish as the tournament's top scorer by the end of the season.

Here are the top five contenders in the race to win the Golden Boot award in the current edition!

    Jorge Pereyra Diaz

After his brilliant brace against Goa, Mumbai City's Jorge Pereyra Diaz is currently the top contender for the Golden Boot in this year's Indian Super League (ISL) with six goals.

The Argentine forward achieved the feat in nine games and is now a strong favourite to receive this season's award. He was signed by Mumbai City this year after starting with the Kerala Blasters last year.

In 2021, he scored eight goals in the league. Now, the Islanders and Diaz are posing a threat to the rest of the competitors. His goal-scoring prowess is delightful, and he has a strong chance of winning the award.

    Cleiton Silva

Thanks to Cleiton Silva, East Bengal have significantly improved this year. He played as a forward for Bengaluru and now leads the attacking lineup in the Red & Gold Brigade.

He scored five goals in eight matches, and his tally is expected further rise. Silva is backed up by considerable experience with the ISL, and Stephen Constantine fully trusts him. The team need him to compensate for last year's bottom-place finish.

    Dimitri Petratos

Petratros has boosted the frontline in ATK Mohun Bagan, who currently sit third on the rankings. With five goals in nine matches, he is the highest-scoring player in the team and a top contender for the Golden Boot. Petratos is giving top forwards a run for their money in his debut season at the ISL.

    Abdenasser El Khayati

Abdenasser El Khayati has netted four goals from just five matches, making him the player with the best goal-to-minute ratio in the league. After the initial round of games, the Dutch midfielder has been outstanding in Chennaiyin.

Another newcomer to the league, the attacking midfielder, has turned heads because of his quality in the final third. He has already netted four goals in the first five appearances for CFC.

If he maintains his consistency, he will surely be able to snap up the Golden Boot award.

Meanwhile, there are more players on the tally of four goals, including Lallianzuala Chhangte and Bipin Singh. The winger pair have threatened other prominent players in the game.

Other players with similar stats include Nandhakumar Sekar (Odisha), Noah Sadaoui (Goa), Ivan Kaliuzhnyi (Kerala Blasters), and Dimitrios Diamantakos (Kerala Blasters).
