Indian Super League: Kerala Blasters extend their winning streak with a victory over Jamshedpur FC
Kerala Blasters secured a 1-0 victory over Jamshedpur FC at JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on December 45.
Within regulation time, Dimitrios Diamantakos, in the 17th minute, was the lone goalscorer for Kerala Blasters, while none of the players from Jamshedpur FC could score.
Kerala Blasters decided not to make any changes in the squad from their previous clash over Hyderabad. In contrast, the home side made four changes, replacing Sekh Sahil, Jitendra Singh, Pratik Chaudhary, and Harry Sawyer with Farukh Choudhary, Ritwik Das, Eli Sabia, and Phijam Singh.
The match had a cagey start, with both sides struggling in the early stages of the first half. Kerala Blasters finally got a breakthrough as Greek striker Diamantakos slotted the ball into the net from close range following a free kick by Adrian Luna.
Jamshedpur FC got a golden opportunity to equalize the score in the 37th minute. However, Kerala Blasters' goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Gill pushed away Jay Thomas’ strike.
The home side began scrambling for an equalizer in the second half but failed to make much of the few opportunities they created. Sandeep Singh was handed a yellow card in the 72nd minute after he took out Pandita near the edge of the box.
Neither side failed to score any more goals, and the match ended with a 1-0 win for Kerala Blasters.
The victory over Jamshedpur FC has increased the winning streak of Kerala Blasters to four consecutive victories. Kerala Blasters will lock horns with Bengaluru in their next Indian Super League match on December 11.
