Indian Super League: FC Goa wins the second game in a row after a 2-0 win over Chennaiyin FC
FC Goa scored in both halves of the match and won a well-deserved match against Chennaiyin FC. The Gaurs drew blood 10 minutes into the game and took the lead
Redeem Tlang's attempt hit home, and Noah Sadaoui doubled the lead in the 92nd minute. It marks their second consecutive win in the ninth season of the Indian Super League (ISL).
Now, Goa dominates the rankings with an unmatched win record of 100 per cent this season. The starting XI in both teams changed before the match.
Devansh Dabas was positioned between the sticks in place of the suspended Debjit Majumder for Chennaiyin. Sadaoui replaced Alvaro Vazquez in the starting line-up for Goa.
Noah Sadaoui converts in the 10th minute
The match's opening goal arrived 10 minutes into the game, and Sadaoui was at the receiving end of a long pass from the middle third. He outmuscled Fallou Diagne and launched a high-paced cross from the left.
Redeem Tlang then headed the ball into the net. Despite brilliant team effort from the Gaurs, they were at risk of conceding. Twenty minutes into the match, Dheeraj Singh made two crucial saves to maintain the lead.
Prasanth Karuthadathkuni intercepted the ball and sent it to Rahim Ali, but his shot was blocked. The rebound landed at Petar Sliskovic's feet, and his subsequent volley couldn't make it past the Goa goalkeeper.
Sadaoui, after a few seconds, tackled Dabas, but the striker fired a wide shot. The second attempt involved Jiteshwor Singh throwing a shot from the penalty box.
However, Dheeraj Singh intercepted the ball by making a broad jump. Before halftime, Sliskovic tried to score from a tight angle prompting the Croatian to strain himself to make the save.
During stoppage time before the break, Goa was dominant on the counter-attack, with four players standing against Chennaiyin's two. Sadaoui made a pass to Glan Martins, but the midfielder sent a wide shot.
None of the attackers was enough to challenge the defensive strength shown by both teams. After the 90 minutes ended, 12 minutes of stoppage time was added due to Dheeraj Singh's injury treatment.
Chennaiyin spilt out forward, exposing their backside, and the Gaurs took advantage of that. Sadaoui finally scored the winner and led his team to another win.
The Marina Machans will play against East Bengal in their next match on November 4. The Gaurs will return to the stadium next weekend when they visit defending champions Hyderabad on October 29.
