Lallianzuala Chhangte's goal in the fourth minute was followed by Mehtab Singh's own goal three minutes into the second half. The hosts rippled the net in the 72nd minute and the visitors answered with another goal in the 89th minute.

The lineups remained unchanged for both teams, and the Islanders procured the lead within the first four minutes. Lallianzuala Chhangte pounced into a clearing from the left flank and took a strong target at goal.

The ball bounced inside the goal line, and the crowd cheered. After three minutes, there was a disturbance at the other end of the crossbar. Dimitri Petratos threw a brilliant cross from the right flank, and Liston Colaco pulled a header.

However, the ball struck the woodwork, and ATK Mohun Bagan was denied. Before half-time was over, Bipin Singh made an effort inside the box, but the ball found Vishal Kaith at the near post, and the hosts retained their lead.

The Mariners converted early in the second half as Finnish midfielder Joni Kauko responded to Manvir's pass. The ball deflected off Mehtab Singh before landing in the back of the net.

The Islanders continued to press hard, and their efforts finally paid off in the 72nd minute. Ahmed Jahouh threw in a cross from the left flank, and Griffiths found the perfect occasion to head it home.

The Mariners, hoping for a late resurgence, sent off half-time substitute Lenny Rodrigues for an off-the-ball offence on Greg Stewart. The change implemented in the 75th minute followed a clean comeback from ATK Mohun Bagan.

Mumbai's next attempt struck the crossbar when Greg Stewart's freekick flew off the bar in the 83rd minute. Six minutes later, the Mariners finally scored their second goal.

Dimitri Petratos sent a cross from a freekick converted by substitute McHugh just four minutes after coming on. The Irishman headed his first goal in three years, and ATK Mohun Bagan scored a much-needed equaliser.

Mumbai City FC is now in third place with nine points and is four points behind table-toppers Hyderabad FC. The Islanders have another match awaiting them at the Marina Arena when they face Chennaiyin on November 12.

ATK Mohun Bagan is currently fifth on the table, with equal points as Chennaiyin. The Mariners will then face NorthEast United at home on November 10, Thursday.
